Biography

Prior to joining the law firm of Flynn Guymon & Garavalia, Michael J. (“Mike”) Garavalia was a trial attorney at a mid-sized law firm in Belleville, Illinois, where he represented injured individuals and estates. Licensed to practice law in Illinois and Missouri, Mike focuses his practice on matters involving personal injury, wrongful death, products liability, and civil rights. Mike also has extensive experience counseling and defending local governmental entities and their insurers. Mike has earned successful jury verdicts on behalf of his clients in state and federal trial courts. Beyond the trial courts, Mike has argued successfully before the Illinois Appellate Court and the United States Court of Appeals.

Mike graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 2005. His honors include having been awarded the distinction of “Outstanding Trial Advocate” amongst his graduating class. Prior to law school, Mike graduated from McKendree College in 2001 with a degree in Fine Arts, minor in Computer Science.  While studying at McKendree, Mike was also a four-year varsity letterman and defensive captain of the McKendree Bearcats football team.
